Big Oil does not deserve more money from gov’t

On March 29, Republicans in the U.S. Senate calling the bill a political stunt, blocked legislation to strip billions of dollars in tax breaks for the biggest U.S. oil companies. A last-minute entreaty by President Barack Obama was not enough to convince senators to strip the oil and gas industry of tax incentives. Comment.

The quiet streets between PS 169 and the Bay Terrace Waldbaum’s were met with the sounds of nearly 70 little voices Monday as kindergarten students lugged bags of recyclable products to the supermarket. Comment.

Nursing home union in labor talks

Negotiations have heated up at Bayside’s Ozanam Hall nursing home as more than 400 members of the UFCW Local 342 union accused management of unfair working conditions and the employees reached out to the community to share their stories, distributing leaflets to visitors at the home. Comment.
