Ricatto opens office, defends his staff driver

Delayed after his campaign bus accidently struck and killed a boy at an Ozone Park intersection, City Council candidate Michael Ricatto launched the opening of his Howard Beach campaign office last week on Cross Bay Boulevard and publicly told his side of the story about the incident for the first time. Ulrich starts political career early with Council race

City Council candidate Eric Ulrich held a recent luncheon fund−raiser at Villa Russo Catering Hall in Richmond Hill to raise funds and votes for the race for the 32nd Council District seat, vacated by newly elected state Sen. Joseph Addabbo (D−Howard Beach), which will be filled by a special election Feb. 24. On the Republican side, he is running against Mike Ricatto; on the Democratic side, he is up against Democratic District Leaders Lew Simon, Geraldine Chapey and Frank Gulliscio. Comment.

Middle Village man was drunk in hit−run: DA

The Middle Village man arrested for allegedly killing a 16−year−old Middle Village football player and a Brooklyn resident in an early Sunday morning hit−and−run allegedly admitted that he was driving a stolen car while drunk and claimed he remembered seeing the two victims but did not realize he had struck them, Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said. Comment.

Fire rips through Ozone Park bldg.

The Fire Department is trying to figure out what started a three−alarm fire that destroyed an Ozone Park apartment building Monday evening, but tenants said the blaze began in a second−floor unit where there had been a loud argument the night before. Comment.
