JetBlue fined $90K by DOT over delayed flight at JFK

The U.S. Department of Transportation has fined JetBlue Airways $90,000 for failure to inform passengers on a delayed flight that they had the right to leave the plane while it remained at a John F. Kennedy International Airport departure gate. Comment.

Nassau judge shoots down MTA payroll tax

A state judge on Long Island has ruled the payroll tax enacted to save the Metropolitan Transportation Authority from financial ruin is unconstitutional, but the MTA expressed optimism it will be upheld on appeal. Comment.

Noisy LGA flights stir boro lawmakers

A change in route for some passengers taking off from LaGuardia Airport has become a noisy nuisance for residents in northeast Queens, and area lawmakers said they were trying to see what all the commotion was about. According to a Federal Aviation Administration official, the agency is evaluating the departure path of the Flushing climb, which goes north out of LaGuardia Airport, turning towards the northeast part of the borough. Outerborough cab plan failure may cost $1B

A Manhattan Supreme Court judge struck down the outerborough taxi hail plan as unconstitutional Friday, saying in his decision that the “home rule” clause was violated when Mayor Michael Bloomberg tried to pass the plan through the state Legislature instead of the City Council. Comment.
