The recent assaults on city bus drivers should and must be a wake-up call to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority to provide needed protection for all MTA bus drivers. Comment.

Stay out of business that doesn’t concern you

Keep your head in the sand, Benjamin Haber (“Stop complaining about aircraft noise,” Sept. 27-Oct. 3). While the Federal Aviation Administration flies overhead to challenge the quality of life for Bayside and Whitestone residents, you do not even live in the area and tell us not to complain. Comment.

NE Qns. needs downtown express

As you might be aware, I have been fighting to get downtown service on the QM20 express bus and I am angry at the fact that the Metropolitan Transportation Authority Bus Co. wastes northeast Queens residents’ taxpayer money. Comments (1).

Buses, vans to replace LIRR trains over weekend

The Long Island Rail Road plans to use buses and vans to replace four early morning trains on the Port Washington branch Saturday, Oct. 27, at Manhasset, Plandome and Port Washington, L.I., stations to permit overnight track inspections. Comment.

MTA chairman favors hike of 25 cents in subway fares

MTA Chairman Joseph Lhota has suggested the transit agency is likely to raise the basic subway and bus fare of $2.25 by a quarter to $2.50, effective in March 2013. Comments (1).
