Queens pols want down vote on taxi e-hail apps

A number of Queens politicians are calling on the city Taxi & Limousine Commission to reject a proposal allowing taxicab drivers to use electronic hailing smartphone applications, arguing the technology could potentially produce discrimination by allowing drivers to ignore people hailing on the street for those who made prearranged calls. Rally against FAA’s flight path

I have read that the Federal Aviation Administration plans to implement its plan to change departure procedures from LaGuardia Airport. This means a constant stream of aircraft will continue coming over our homes in northeast Queens. The FAA has been “testing” the changes during the past six months and everyone has noticed the dramatic increase in noise and air pollution. Comment.

2-year work to begin on Bronx-Whitestone exit

The 3rd Avenue exit, the last exit in Queens before entering onto the Bronx-bound Bronx-Whitestone Bridge, will be closed to all traffic beginning Jan. 7 as part of a $109 million reconstruction of the bridge’s Queens approach, the MTA said. Comments (8).

Flushing irate at 7 train hiatus

The Flushing community began its annual refrain Tuesday of denouncing the state’s plan to perform No. 7 train maintenance during Lunar New Year celebrations even though the transit authority calls off its crews for larger holidays. Comment.
