Forest Hills – New York City Councilmember Karen Koslowitz recently presented a certificate to Arvind Mahankali, the 10-year-old spelling bee whiz from Forest Hills, in recognition of his achievements for finishing as a semifinalist at the Scripps National Spelling Bee.

“It is my honor to present this award to Arvind for doing so well in the national competition. The Forest Hills and Queens community is very proud of his hard work,” stated Koslowitz. “When I was in elementary school, I also competed in a spelling bee tournament, but I didn’t go nearly as far as Arvind.”
