Instead of a wedding, the family of Porterfield Youngblood III is preparing for a funeral.

Youngblood, a young father from St. Albans who was engaged to be married next year, was shot to death in South Jamaica early Saturday morning, police said. His family says Youngblood was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, and authorities have not yet made any arrests in his murder.

Youngblood, 22, of 194-55 116th Ave. in St. Albans, was shot once in the side near 109-12 Guy Brewer Blvd. at 1:53 a.m. Saturday, said Detective George Nagy, a police spokesman. He was taken to Mary Immaculate Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival, Nagy said.

Police in the 103rd Precinct have found no motive yet in Youngblood
