By Bryan Schwartzman

A man died over the weekend after having suffered severe head injuries in an automobile accident involving a Jamaica Hospital Ambulance and a car, a hospital spokesman said.

Leonard Gomez was taken to the hospital in critical condition and later died after the 1984 Chevy Sedan he was a passenger in struck the ambulance shortly after 2 p.m. at Jamaica Avenue and 115th Street.

Lewis Gomez, 50, the driver of the automobile, was taken to the hospital and remains in critical but stable condition, said hospital and police sources. Police and hospital sources could not confirm whether the two men were related before press time.

Michael Dennehy, 28 and Tammy Hubert, 23 the ambulance operators, were taken to the hospital in stable condition but were released over the weekend.

Police said a pedestrian, Mike Trabado, was struck by a projectile resulting from the crash and was taken to Jamaica Hospital. At press time hospital spokesman Ole Pedersen said he was unaware of the connection to the ambulance crash and did not know Trabado
