THE CIVIC SCENE: Boro officials discuss the issues with civics

After summer ends the civic associations start their October round of meetings with topics which show the concerns of the various communities in Queens.

The Fresh Meadows Homeowners Civic Association Inc. met at Ryan Junior High School, which is a Beacon School with many evening programs for the community, and invited Assemblyman Mark Weprin (D-Bayside) and attorney Randy Stein, who spoke on Eldercare. Weprin addressed many different topics involving the quality of life in the community and was asked many questions. One of the issues was to keep the center island malls on 64th and 69th avenues clean.

The Auburndale Improvement Association Inc. had invited state Sen. Frank Padavan (R-Bellerose) and Sgt. Greg Reutter of the 111th Precinct to their September meeting and invited Councilman Mike Abel (R-Bayside) to the October meeting. Topics of concern were car theft, opposition to a sidewalk caf
