Suit filed to stop 14-screen theater

Laurelton activist Cynthia Jenkins, along with 12 other plaintiffs, has filed a lawsuit to prevent construction of a 14-screen multiplex theater in Springfield Gardens even though the facility is permitted under city zoning laws.

The complaint was filed Tuesday in federal court in Brooklyn against developer Bruce Ratner, chief executive officer of Forest City Ratner, and Michael Campbell, president of Regal Cinema, the movie theater company.

The suit claims the opening of a multiplex at 132-20 Belknap Ave. would violate area residents
