Asian American Coalition elects its leaders

Twenty-five years ago John Quach was a refugee from Vietnam who had just immigrated to the United States.

After overcoming what he said were many hardships, Quach obtained an education at Queens College and now owns and operates three successful discount stores in Queens and is president of the Vietnamese Business Association.

Quach was inaugurated Friday as one of nine co-chairs of the newly formed, Flushing-based Asian American Coalition of Queens.

The ceremony was held at the public library in downtown Flushing.
