Fresh Meadows executive in race for Leffler

Jairam Thakral, a hospital executive from Fresh Meadows, dived headlong into the race for the City Council seat now held by Sheldon Leffler (D-Hollis) at a fund-raiser Sunday in Bayside.

Thakral made an official announcement at the event at Adria Ramada Inn on Northern Boulevard for the post in the 23rd Councilmanic District, which covers Little Neck, Fresh Meadows, Glen Oaks, Bellerose, Queens Village, Hollis and southern Bayside.
