Lack of parking plagues Jamaica business district

Downtown Jamaica is bustling. Retail stores and public buildings are drawing shoppers and government workers to the once rundown business district along Jamaica Avenue.

The only problem, local merchants say, is there is almost no place to park. Meter parking on and around Jamaica Avenue is sparse, and local business and civic leaders insist that despite two parking garages and two municipal lots, a parking shortage still exists. They say both short- and long-term solutions are necessary.
