Berger’s Burg: Recalling the greatness of Martin Luther King

In 1983, Congress established the third Monday in January, beginning in 1986, as a federal holiday in honor of the birth of Dr. Martin Luther King. This tribute was created so we could all pay homage to a great American who led peaceful demonstrations for equal rights.

On Jan. 15, we celebrate the 70th year since his birth. The memory of this charismatic and articulate spokesman still resonates so many years after his death.
