Main St. station gets supervisors

Following months of complaints by elected officials, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority has assigned two supervisors to the bustling Main Street subway station in downtown Flushing and will make sure the station manager is on hand during the morning commute.

Deirdre Parker, an MTA spokeswoman, said the move was made as a compromise since Queens officials, including Borough President Claire Shulman, have been demanding that a station manager be present at all times to handle any problems at the stop.
