The Flushing Bandits, a gymnastics team out of the Flushing YMCA, finished third earlier this month at the YMCA national championships in Tacoma, Wash., while on the same weekend team member Liz Kotler failed to qualify for the United States championships at the USA Classic in Tulsa, Okla.
The Bandits, coached by Damon Albert, were the defending YMCA national champions going into the meet, held July 5 through 8. And while the team did not perform nearly as well as it had last year, several members of the team did manage to earn individual medals to go with the team
