Disabled gather to laud 10 years of freedom

For the thousands of disabled residents living in Queens, the Americans with Disabilities Act has meant freedom in many tangible ways.

There was the elevator at Jefferson Hall at Queens College, installed in the late 1980s, so disabled students could conduct business in private with the bursar or registrar, rather than have a messenger come down the stairs to assist them.
