Queens Kings manager Eddie Rodriguez said he felt confident coming into Monday's doubleheader against first place Staten Island. After all, the Kings were in the midst of a three-game winning streak and were only 2.5 games behind the Yankees in the standings.
Even after Queens (25-22) dropped the first game, 3-1, Rodriguez was not that upset, believing his team had a chance in the nightcap and understanding Staten Island pitcher Andy Beal just threw a terrific game.
But all that changed quickly for Rodriguez and the Kings, as the Yankees received brilliant starting pitching for the second straight game, this time by Jason Anderson, as the Kings were swept, falling in the nightcap, 5-1, in front of 3,026 at The Ballpark at the College of Staten Island.
