I am writing this column during a major rain storm.
We have had close to 4 inches of rain in the past three days, the cloud cover bodes even more downpour, and I am thoroughly convinced that the sun has disappeared from the metropolitan area .
After taking a moment to recapture my composure, I soon realized that the sun will indeed make its presence known … and if past experience for the month of August is any indicator of gardening tasks, we can be assured of several extended heat spells and a period of time without significant rain.
