114th cops searching for suspect

Laura Rahman and her daughter Sharmin, of 34-19 31st St., both suffered stab wounds to the face, head and neck and were taken to Elmhurst Hospital in stable condition, said Officer George Jensen, a police spokesman.

The prime suspect, Rodrigo Ponce, 22, who lives in the basement apartment in the same building as the Rahmans, was involved in a tenant dispute and had been angry with the family, Jensen said.

Ponce is described as 5-foot-5 with brown hair and brown eyes and weighing about 135 pounds. He faces charges of attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon, police said. Police said they recovered a kitchen knife, which they suspect is the weapon, in the downstairs apartment.
