Kats lose point guard in loss to James Eangravers, 26-10

By The Times-Ledger

The regular season closed with the Masons #563 Kats losing more than a game to James Engravers, 26-10. The Kats also lost their point guard and league leader, Jennifer Arcarola, who suffered a broken finger and will be out for the playoffs. It was a tough break for the Kats, but rookie Michelle Velasquez hit for six points to help her team stay in it. James Engravers is going to be tough to beat in the playoffs with the triple threat combination of premier point guard Randi Citron, power forward Lisa Burdzy and center Catherine Aguirre. Rookie Sara Dahan has performed superbly for the James Engravers, as has Melissa Weiss and Caitlin Fitzpatrick.

Family Pizza evened its season nicely, coming out of the gate running and winning against Utopia Chiropractor, 20-18. The return of Dayna Handelsman from the disabled list helped Family Pizza to victory. Victoria Drake, Julia Fusfeld, Hallie Tenenbaum and Christine Sanders combined to put up a tremendous backcourt press, which put Utopia Chiropractor to the test. Help came from the flanks for Utopia Chiropractor with Katie Uriarte, Jessica Marks and Dina Zulo sinking clutch baskets to make the ending a nail-biter. Caitlin Keane was key in helping Utopia Chiropractor break the press.
