Queens becomes a stage as players look to spring

March and April will be busy months for Queens Community theater groups, as they present plays and musicals for their spring season.

Auditions will be held by the Outrageous Fortune Company for their next presentation, “Three Days of Rain” by Richard Greenberg, on Friday, March 16, from 7 to 10 p.m., and Sunday, March 18 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Call 428-2500

Douglaston Community Theatre is holding auditions for the Broadway thriller, “Night Watch” by Lucille Fletcher, on Tuesday and Thursday, March 13 and 15 at 8 p.m. and Saturday, March 17 at 1 pm. at the Zion Parish Hall, 44th Avenue in Douglaston. Performances are scheduled for May. Call 516-338-6234 for further information.

Beari Productions had intended to present “Born Yesterday” but were unable to obtain the rights. The group instead will perform a musical review, to be announced shortly, for a May-June presentation.

The Parkside Players' production of lra Levin's thriller, “Veronica's Room” opens on Saturday, March 17 at 8 p.m., followed by performances on March 18,23,24,25,30 and 31. Friday and Saturday performances are at 8 p.m. Sundays at. 2 p.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church , 103-15 Union Turnpike, Forest Hills. This is a nail-biting, dark, murder- mystery, which keeps everyone guessing!

The Herricks Community Players, under the direction of John Hayes, producer Carol Hayes, and musical director Susan Weber, present “Annie” at the Herricks Community Center in New Hyde Park. The spring show is set for April 27, 28, 29 and May 4, 5 and 6. Call (516) 742-1926.

Marathon Little Theatre Group continues the musical comedy “Crazy for You” on March 18,24 and 25. Performances: Saturdays at 8:30 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. at the Marathon Jewish Center, 245-37 60 Avenue, Douglaston. Call 428-1580. The Marathon Players perform big musicals, with an enthusiastic and lively cast.

Theatre Time Productions will present their exciting play, “A Shot in the Dark” on March 23, 24,25,30, 31, and April 1. Performances are evenings at 8 p.m., Sundays at 4:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Whitestone, 149th Street. Contact Judy Waxberg at 391-8697 for further information.

Look for a laugh-a-minute in the fast-moving comedy, “Out of Order” by English playwright Ray Cooney, directed by Jegana Martin for Theatre A La Carte. This is a riotous farce as a dead body is moved from place to place, until the murder is finally solved. The play has been adapted for American audiences. Performances will be weekends from April 20 through May 6 at the Douglaston Community Church, near the Douglaston LIRR station.
