A fifth member of an Asian gang has been charged in connection with a fatal stabbing at a Flushing nightclub on Main Street early last month, the police said Friday.

The man, Yu Kong, was arrested around 1 p.m. last Thursday at his home in Astoria, said Detective Theresa Farello, a police spokeswoman. The district attorney charged him with second-degree gang assault, a felony for which he could serve 15 years in prison if convicted.

In early March, four other men, who are members of a gang known as the American Born Chinese, were also arrested and charged with second-degree gang assault.

Police officials said the five men were among a group of 20 who entered the Take One Nightclub March 3 on Main Street, looking for members of a Fukienese gang which frequently visits the club, with whom they had had an argument in mid-February.

Once inside, the men walked to the VIP room, located in the back of the club, and started the brawl, the police said. Tong Quiang, a 28-year-old man from Kentucky, was in the room and was slashed about the throat and arms, police officials said. He was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the officials said. It was unclear whether the victim was a member of either gang, they said.

The stabbing at the Take One Nightclub comes seven months after a Flushing man was wounded by gunfire outside a restaurant on 37th Avenue near Main Street, a shooting that was fueled by an argument that also began inside the nightclub.

The victim was shot once in the right foot and once in the left calf by five men with whom he argued, according to a complaint filed by the Queens district attorney. Soon after the shooting, police officers from the 109th Precinct arrested five men, who were charged variously with attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
