Crimson Tide tops Red Storm

Masons #563 Crimson Tide 66, Queens Courier Red Storm 61. The DAC Junior League basketball championship series went down to a deciding third game that went into overtime. Spectators agreed that it may have been the most exciting game in DAC in many years and it had friends and family on the edge of their seats for the entire evening. For the Tide, Fred Zullo had 22 points, Joey Mare added 21, Paul Lavoie scored 13 and Thomas Hubany contributed eight. Christian Muniz, Chris Pagnozzi and Ricky Honya anchored a tough defense that came through in the clutch. For the Storm, Matt DeMattei led the way with 25 points. David Wohlstader added 13, Dan Gornetsky scored eight, Steve Naftaly chipped in seven, Chris Cano scored five and Elliot Lillian added two. Dan Keane was a big force on the boards.

Commissioner Micky Goldstrein and Don Oral would lke to thank winning coach Dan Naftaly for his outstanding efforts during the long season.
