DePhillips Sports Mets win Pony League opener, 5-4

DePhillips Sports Mets 5, Exxon at Baybridge Devil Rays 4. The Mets edged the Rays 5-4 in the Pony League opener behind a complete game by Jonathan Blader. Matt DeMatteis hit a home run and Thomas Hubany made some great infield plays. Brandon Kopcienski threw out a runner and Andrew and Chris Pagnozzi were solid in the outfield. For the Rays, Ricky Honya pitched a solid game and hit a three-run home run. Peter Kim, Jason Waters and Adam Greenfield anchored the defense.

Neil Valins, DDS Cardinals 15, Estates Animals Hospital Yankees 10. The Cardinals bested the Yankees 15-10 in a slugfest. Sean Redican and Chris Lynch were tough on the mound for the Cardinals, while Adam Mustafa, Joe Kronberg and Mike Granto supplied the offense. For the Yankees, Matt Larotunda and Joey Mariani pitched well, with Joesph Brent, Steve Airasian, Nick Grosso and Eric Fox getting clutch hits.

OLBS Dodgers 3, Reif Park Rangers 1. The Dodgers nipped The Rangers 3-1 in a tight contest. OLBS was led by Mike Giancola, who pitched five strong innings, and Tom Andres was tough behind the place. Chris Ashworth had seven unassisted outs at first base. For the Rangers, Matt Bulger and Travis Swiatocha had key hits and played well in the field. Michael Cavataio pitched a solid game in defeat.
