The Bayside girls’ soccer team was hoping its 1-1 tie with first place Townsend Harris in their last meeting would not only erase an earlier 4-0 loss to the Hawks, but also give the team confidence going into Friday’s game.

Talya Oberfield had other ideas. The Townsend Harris senior scored a hat trick to lead the Hawks to a 5-0 win over the Commodores.

Oberfield scored two of her three goals in the first half to give Townsend Harris (10-0-1, 6-0-1 Queens I) a 2-0 halftime lead.

Sophomore midfielder Jaclyn Miccio, one of the most talented players in Queens, gave the Hawks a three-goal lead one minute into the second half and five minutes later it was Oberfield again who found the back of the net to put the Hawks ahead, 4-0.

The game’s final goal was an own goal against Bayside (7-3-1, 7-2-1).

Bayside rebounded from the tough loss with a 5-0 win over Beach Channel Monday as Carolina Wesso scored two goals.
