Bayside kindergartner competes in international golf tournament

By The TimesLedger

Six-year-old Kevin Reilly, a kindergarten student at PS 203 in Bayside, will be traveling to Quincy, Ill. June 18-20 to compete in the Pepsi Little People’s Golf Championship.

Children from all over the world, including South Africa, Ireland, Japan and England, will take part in the tournament. Kevin, who will compete in the 6- and 7-year-old division, has been hitting golf balls since he was 2 years old and practices at the Flushing Meadow Corona Park pitch and putt course and the Douglaston golf range.

Last year Kevin came in first place in his age group at the Casperkill Country Club and qualified for the U.S. Kids World Golf Championship in Jekyell Island, Georgia. He hopes to qualify for this year’s tournament in August.
