Mitchell Linden Colts coast to three more victories

On Sunday, May 20th, the Mitchell Linden Colts defeated the Whitestone Eagles, 9- 7. The star for the Colts was Rodney Munoz. Munoz made numerous defensive gems and had a key double to lead the Colts. Jeremy Franco picked up his sixth win. Key hits by Bobby Preston, Max Meltzer and Sean Fitzgerald were big. Brian Portilla took two for the team and scored a big run to help the Colts improve to 7 -3.

The Colts also defeated the Boys Club Bills, 8-6. Jeremy Franco pitched four innings with eight strikeouts for the win. Tommy Schreiber pitched the last two innings, striking out three for his first save of the year. Franco and Kennedy Javier homered. Two hits each by Schreiber and Max Meltzer and key hits by Steve Vaituulala and Sean Fitzgerald aided the cause. The game ended when catcher Bobby Preston took the relay throw from Franco. Preston applied the tag at the plate to stop the Bills’ last rally.

The Colts defeated the St. Aloysious Titans, 10-9. Jeremy Franco got the win, going all the way with 12 strikeouts. Big hits by Sean Fitzgerald, Chrisandry Javier, Kennedy Javier, Max Meltzer and Bobby Preston and solid defense by Tommy Schreiber and Rodney Munoz helped the Colts win. Meltzer stole home in the bottom of the sixth for the big 10-9 win.
