The M&M Deli Cardinals defeated the Met Food Mets 8-5 in the Major Division this week. Brian Biscotti pitched four innings allowing four runs while striking out five. Ray Potestio finished the game on the mound allowing one run and striking out two. The Cards were lead offensively by Charlie David’s three-run homer in the fourth inning. Other Cardinals contributing offensively were Greg Conway, who singled and doubled, and Daniel Gasperetti, who had a triple and stole home.

The Cards tied in a game against the Pirates this week. In a see-saw two-inning battle the Pirates prevailed by scoring one run in the second inning on a bang-bang play at the plate. The Cardinals had their chances, leaving the bases loaded in the first inning and had runners on second and third in the second inning without scoring. The Cardinals finished tied for second with a record of 10-5. The boys are primed for a strong playoff run.

In the Farms Division, rain caused problems on Sunday, limiting the number of players who showed up. Coaches and parents decided to combine the 10 Glen Belle Car Service Royals and the five Expos and have them face off against the coaches and parents. Needless to say the adults were no match for the athletic ability displayed by the kids. The combined Royals and Expos won 31-6.

The Royals’ punishing offensive players were Danny Graham, Randolph Herbert, Michael Kelly, Steven Pelan, Kaitlyn Biscotti, Blaise Christoforatas, Sean Dolan, Jason Flaxman, Nicholas Frangella and Christian Graddick.

The thumping Expos were lead by Timmy Mallach, Eric Fackelman, Sasha McFadden, Trevor and Prunoff. A fun day was had and it reminded everyone how much fun baseball really is. The kids all wanted to tell Artie Kelly what a nice slide he made into second base — way to go Artie!
