Right from the start of this game the Yankees came ready to play. Yankee players Brian Kelleher and Frankie Sadicario both hit the ball hard and often. They scored several times as their team jumped out to an early 7-0 lead. But the Diamondbacks came battling back. On Saturday, June 16, the Diamondbacks faced elimination from the playoffs at the hands of the Andron Century 21 Pirates. The Pirates had finished with the best record in the league and they brought their best in this game. The game was tight at the beginning, as shortstop Gillespie kept the game close with a double play in the second inning. Although Gillespie also went 3-for-3 at the plate, he could not carry the whole team by himself against these talented Pirates.

David Treminio contributed with some strong hitting, but the only real offensive threat the D-backs had was squashed in the fifth inning. Gallagher led off the inning with a base on balls before Marin doubled to deep center field. Then Gillespie doubled to left field, scoring Gallagher, but Marin was tagged out at home plate.

The D’backs ended a fine season with a 17-2 loss to the Pirates.

Matt Kruczowy came in to game as a reliever and gave up the other four runs, including a base-loaded triple by Stephen Roa.

With the White Sox feeling they had a chance to win the game, they brought their ace Joey Caraballo to pitch the top six and, as expected, he stroked out three batters, but not before loading the bases on three walks.

In their turn at bat, the White Sox had two runners on base and nobody out, but a base-running bunt by Namit and Scott Kimble gave the Tigers a chance to put the game away. Joey Caraballo and Will Opatow each hit a RBI single to tie the game, but Peter Bukewitz struck out to end the game.
