The Great Neck Choral Society invites singers to audition for the upcoming seasons under the direction of our wonderful conductor, Dr. Virginia Davidson. Auditions for all voices will be held privately on Wednesdays , Sept., 5, 12 and 19, 8 p.m., in the choral room at Great Neck South Middle School, one traffic light south of the LIE off Lakeville Road. This group of 65 strong consists of and welcomes singers from a wide area. Exhibits/Demonstrations

On Fri.,Sept. 7 at 8 p.m., the National Art League welcomes Art Historian Ines Powell who will give a slide lecture on “Modem Masters From the Met”. The art instructors of the National Art League will exhibit their work from Sept. 10 through Sept. 28 at the League,44-21 Douglaston Parkway, Douglaston. Here is a wonderful opportunity to learn about the talented art teachers who offer a range of art lessons at the League from traditional realism to contemporary abstract in all media.They hold classes for adults and for children. Events

Come to the King Manor Museum and play games like horseshoes, graces, jacks, whip tops, nine pins, and hopscotch. Puzzles are also available. Adventure on a Shoestring has scheduled a snacks and sights safari of Astoria, the world's largest Greek City outside Greece. The tour will be lead by Howard Goldberg, Shoestring's president and founder who will discuss Greek food customs and traditions and relate the area's fascinating history and exciting present. The Forest Hills Jewish Center at 106-06 Queens Boulevard presents the only east coast exhibit featuring the works of world renowned Jewish artist Arthur Szyk commemorating the 50th Anniversary of his death. The Forest Hills Jewish Center houses the 30 foot Aron designed and executed by Mr. Siyk in 1948. Science and technology shed a whole new light on traditional printmaking and photography by creating new, exciting forms of contemporary art. All it takes is a cheerful personality, team spirit, and one morning or afternoon a week. The museum staff provides all training and supports. Benefits include free admission to the QMA as well as many cultural institutions around New York City. If you have an interest in education, art and children, consider becoming a museum decent. A decent is a trained museum interpreter who conducts participatory tours for children grades K through 6 on one morning per week, focusing on the museum's permanent and changing exhibitions.
