Police Blotter: Bayside teen in stolen car strikes girl in Bklyn’s Crown Heights: Cops

BAYSIDE — A Bayside teen was arrested for allegedly stealing a car Sunday night and accidentally hitting and injuring a young girl in Crown Heights in Brooklyn, police said.

The incident occurred on the 10th anniversary of the Crown Heights riots, which were sparked by a white driver’s car accident that killed 8-year-old Gavin Cato, who was black. The girl who was struck Sunday is also 8 years old and black. The driver in this case is black.

The suspect, Fredrick Kile, 16, of 34-30 214th Place, was arrested with the allegedly stolen vehicle at Eastern Parkway and Utica Avenue at about 10:30 p.m. Sunday, police said.

The young victim was taken to Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn in stable condition, police said.

VIN etching offered at Little Neck church

LITTLE NECK — The 111th Police Precinct was scheduled to hold a VIN etching at St. Anastasia’s Church Saturday, Community Affairs Officer Santo Elardo said.

In the free program, a car’s Vehicle Identification Number is burned into the automobile’s windows, making the vehicle less attractive to thieves. Car owners who get the VIN etching usually see a reduction in their comprehensive auto insurance fees.

Saturday’s event is slated for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Anastasia’s at 45-05 245th St.

28-year-old critically hurt in 79th St. motorcycle wreck

JACKSON HEIGHTS — A man was seriously injured Saturday afternoon when his motorcycle and another vehicle collided, police said.

The victim, 28, was taken to Elmhurst Hospital in critical condition, police said, after his motorcycle collided with another vehicle, not described by police, at 79th Street and 32nd Avenue at about 2 p.m. on Saturday.

No summonses were issued in the incident, and police were investigating.

Woman struck by car on Crossbay Boulevard

LINDENWOOD — A woman was critically injured while crossing Crossbay Boulevard in Lindenwood early Saturday morning, police said.

The victim, 23, was crossing the street at the intersection of Crossbay Boulevard and South Conduit Avenue at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday when she was hit by a car, police said. The car then left the scene, police said.

The victim was taken to Jamaica Hospital with severe head injuries, police said.

Hollis city worker charged in assault

HOLLIS — A city employee from Hollis was arrested Sunday morning and charged with assault in a domestic incident, police said.

Charles Dunkin, a city Department of Environmental Protection employee who lives at 112-11 205th St., was arrested and charged with assault at about 11 a.m. Sunday, police said.

No further information about the incident was released.

Man, 24, found stabbed to death in Sunnyside

SUNNYSIDE — A man was found dead from multiple stab wounds in Sunnyside Sunday morning, police said.

Victor Gomez, 24, of 25-7 48th St. in Astoria, was discovered at about 4 a.m. Sunday at the corner of 45th Street and Greenpoint Avenue with several stab wounds to his neck, police said.

Police were investigating.

Biker killed in accident with livery cab in Woodside

WOODSIDE — A man was killed in Woodside Saturday afternoon when the motorcycle he was driving collided with a livery cab, police said.

The victim, 24, whose name was not released, was driving the motorcycle south on 69th Street and hit the livery cab at 51st Road at about noon Saturday, police said. The livery cab was making a left turn at the time, police said.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. No violations were issued. Police were investigating.

Man, 19, shot in jaw in Jamaica argument

JAMAICA — A man was shot in the face during a dispute in Jamaica Tuesday night, police said.

The victim, 19, was taken to Mary Immaculate Hospital in stable condition after being shot in the jaw at about 8 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

The incident occurred in front of 163-05 107th Ave., police said.

Police were investigating.

Man shot in face in Jamaica dispute

JAMAICA — In another shooting Tuesday night, a 19-year-old man was hit in the face in the midst of an argument in Jamaica.

The victim, who was not identified, was injured after a confrontation with another person at about 8 p.m. near 106-44 Union Hall St., police said.

The man was taken to Mary Immaculate Hospital in stable condition.

Police were investigating.
