Richmond Hill woman arrested in stabbing

By Daniel Massey

A pregnant Richmond Hill woman was arrested last week after she allegedly stabbed her live-in boyfriend twice in the chest, police said.

The trouble began around 7 a.m. on Oct. 10 at 134-07 101st Ave., a two-family house just west of the Van Wyck Expressway in Richmond Hill, when Lorena Norville, 25, and Alhagi Ceesay, 35, began arguing, 102nd Precinct officials said.

The dispute escalated and “became physical,” said Chris Cottingham, a Police Department spokesman, when Norville allegedly stabbed her boyfriend two times in the chest.

Ceesay was rushed to Jamaica Hospital in critical condition, police said.

Michael Hinck, a spokesman for Jamaica Hospital, said Ceesay was transferred from intensive care Friday. “The patient has been moved from an intensive care bed to a regular bed and he’s now in stable condition,” Hinck said.

Norville was arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder, Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said. Norville was “not seriously hurt,” in the incident, said her mother, who opened the door to her home but would not identify herself further.

Norville, who has two children with Ceesay, came to the United States from Guyana in 1982, her mother said.

A man living downstairs from Norville and Ceesay, who identified himself as Jose, said, “I heard arguing and the next thing I knew the police were here.”

He said he had heard Norville and Ceesay arguing in the past, but the fighting did not seem out of the ordinary. “It was on occasion like any couple would do,” he said.
