LIAM swimming team earns victory over Sacred Heart

By The TimesLedger

The LIAM boys swim team defeated Sacred Heart in a hard-fought battle at Bayside High School on Friday, Nov. 16. It was the first meet of the season and both teams put on a strong showing. LIAM is a compilation of four parishes: Our Lady of Lourdes, Incarnation, American Martyrs and Holy Family.

LIAM was led by many strong performances. Senior Jeffrey Shillingford led the 100-yard freestyle from start to finish with a time of 59.44. Juniors Dominic Acevedo and Malcom Moore dominated the 50 freestyle and took first and second, respectively. The Senior medley relay, which consisted of Louis Lata (backstroke), Corey Shaw (breaststroke), Daniel Santiago (butterfly) and Hector Rosa (freestyle), took first place easily, as did the freestyle relay with Philip Acevedo, Mike Capehart, Lemarc Comrie and Hector Velez leading the way.

LIAM hopes to build on their great start when they compete against rivals St. Kevin’s/Anastasia on Nov. 30.
