111th Precinct tests NE Queens’ honesty

BAYSIDE — As the holiday season approaches, the 111th Police Precinct in Bayside has issued a warning cautioning residents not to leave their property unattended.

Sgt. Robert Guercio said people in the northeast Queens precinct should be careful not to leave packages, pocketbooks or bags unattended in stores or in their cars.

Guercio said the precinct would be conducting operations in which they intentionally leave property unattended in stores and public areas.

If someone steals the property, Guercio said, they will be arrested, while those who return the unattended items to store managers will be rewarded.

Guercio said he would like to recognize citizens who do the right thing at a 111th Precinct Community Council meeting sometime after the holidays.
