JetBlue lures shoppers to city with special fares

By Philip Newman

JetBlue Airways, the low-fare carrier based in Kew Gardens, is offering a special “Shop-in-New York-for-the-Holidays” fare sale.

JetBlue said the special fares would involve Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse and Burlington, Vt. on Tuesday and Wednesday for $29 each way on certain flights to New York this week and in December. The fare drops to $24 each way if booked on the Internet.

The “Shop NYC For The Holidays” fare sale is valid for travel on Nov. 27 and 28, Dec. 4 and 5 and Dec. 11 and 12 but can be combined with travel on other days of the week at regular fares.

“With this great sale fare and JetBlue’s convenient flight schedule, holiday shoppers can make a day trip for a full day’s shopping or stay overnight and take in all the sights, sounds and spirit of the holidays in New York City,” said JetBlue CEO David Neeleman.

JetBlue flies from John F. Kennedy International Airport with five daily round-trip flights from Buffalo, four daily round-trip flights from Rochester, three daily round-trip flights from Syracuse and two daily round-trip flights from Burlington, Vt.

JetBlue was voted the nation’s No. 2 domestic airline in the Conde Nast Traveler 14th annual Readers Choice Awards published this month.

With JetBlue, all seats are assigned, all travel is ticketless, all fares are one way and a Saturday night stay is never required.

Since its beginning 21 months ago, JetBlue has served nearly 4 million passengers flying a fleet of 20 new Airbus A320 jetliners and plans to take delivery of another new A320 this year and 11 more by the end of 2002.

The airline also flies to destinations in Florida, to Long Beach, Ontario and Oakland, Calif., New Orleans, Denver, Salt Lake City and Seattle. Service is scheduled to begin Nov. 28 from Washington Dulles airport to Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
