CYO Volleyball has just completed its season in the Brooklyn/Queens Diocesan Congratulations to all the teams, the runners up and the moms, dads and families who endured the schedule, travel and practices. A job well done by all.

On Saturday, March 23, at Archbishop Molloy High School, St. Gregory’s Novice girls, coached by Jerry Martori and Maryellen Quinn defended their 2001 championship against a game Our Lady of Mount Carmel of Astoria. Mount Carmel put up a strong performance, but St. Gregory’s, despite being down 0-11, came back to upset their opponent in the first of the two sets, 15-12.

The St. Gregory’s team was led by the strong serving of Emily Harms, Kathy Gualatuna and Theresa Quinn. With strong bumping by Dana Giuntini, Megan Concannon and Alyssa Martori. Caity Brandt, Rachel Golden, Meghan Hill, Meaghan Mooney and Erin O’Mahoney consistently put in strong performances in the season finale.

St. Gregory’s won the second set, 15-8. These two wins tell another story of success for these young ladies, who completed the season with a perfect record of 40-0.
