Queens College baseball team drops three straight games

By Anthony Bosco

The Queens College men’s baseball team dropped three games this past week, including a two-game set to the College of St. Rose Saturday.

Against St. Rose in the first game of the doubleheader, the Knights got plenty of offense, scoring seven runs, but the team’s pitching allowed 17 runs for a 10-point loss.

Stewart Goodwin was 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs for Queens and Austin Shafran banged out three hits in the non-conference loss.

In the nightcap Saturday, Queens surrendered the game-winning run in the top of the seventh inning, blowing a chance for the team to salvage a split. Offensively, Vic Pantopoulos had three hits and Goodwin homered again.

Earlier in the week, Queens dropped a 6-0 decision to New Haven, the third time this season the Knights have been shut out. Only Nick Gulotta and Mike Medea had hits in the loss.
