By The TimesLedger

With three wins last week, the St. Luke’s Novice baseball team made it 21 in a row. The boys are 7-0 this season and were a perfect 14-0 — including playoffs — last year.

On Sunday, May 5, they defeated St. Joseph’s, 15-5. John Montoya (home run, five RBIs), Anthony Polito (3-for-3, four RBIs) and Carlo Cataldo (2-for-2, three RBIs) did the hitting and John Massa pitched four strong innings to get the win.

On Saturday, May 11, the boys swept Our Lady of Hope, 15-4 and 16-2, in a doubleheader. In the first game, Mike Socci and Anthony Polito pitched three great innings each. Socci also shined at the plate, smacking four hits.

In the second game, Carlo Cataldo started and pitched three scoreless innings. Dean Glykas followed with two scoreless innings. Glykas and John Massa provided the power with two triples each. Clean-up hitter John Montoya was 5-for-8 on the day.

The fielding play of the day was a sliding catch by leftfielder John Matia.
