By The TimesLedger

Panfilo Gomez expects to enter into the third annual Quantum Feet Road Runners Club 5K and defend his crown Sunday morning June 9 at 9 a.m.

The starts of the race is at 189th Street and Union Turnpike in Fresh Meadows. In addition to the age group race that offers plenty of awards, there will be a children’s fun run. All the kids who compete in the latter event will receive an award.

Gomez, a resident of Woodhaven, is coming off a 16:41 for 10th place in the Kenny Dolan 5K last Sunday in Brooklyn. The 30 year old Gomez expects to set the pace in the upcoming race.

Overall, there will be more than 200 competitors, including some high school runners.

Proceeds of the race that offers awards will benefit the Steppingstone day School of Flushing.
