105th Precinct Council doles out awards

By Adam Kramer

The 105th Precinct Community Council handed out awards to precinct officers, auxiliary police officers and members of the Law Explorers Program at its last meeting before the summer break at the end of June.

The council traditionally gives out awards throughout the year to express its gratitude to people associated with the precinct.

At the meeting, Deputy Inspector Michael Bryan was congratulated for his recent promotion from captain to deputy inspector on June 28.

The 105th Precinct covers the predominately residential communities of Queens Village, Cambria Heights, Laurelton, Rosedale, Springfield Gardens, Bellerose, Glen Oaks, New Hyde Park and Floral Park. The precinct encompasses 12.67 miles and covers 354 miles of roadways, making it the largest precinct in Queens.

Some of the award winners were: Officer Joseph Minucci, Cop of the Month for April; Officer Carlton Epps, Cop of the Month for May; and Officer Don Barto for previous service to the precinct. In addition, Officer Joseph Bonaventura, Officer Gino LoPresti, Officer Shirley Kirkland and Officer Pete Dwyer received awards for their continued service to the community.
