Weprin’s Wranglers retain Legislative Trophy with win

By The TimesLedger

State Assemblyman Mark Weprin’s (D-Bayside) Wranglers defeated state Senator Frank Padavan’s (R-Bellerose) Powderpuffs in a close game that went into extra innings to retain the Legislative Trophy. The two girls’ softball teams, sponsored by the legislators in the Hollis-Bellaire-Queens Village- Bellerose Athletic Association have played the last eight years for the right to display the Legislative Trophy in the winning legislator’s office.

The Wranglers were led by the exceptional pitching of Allison Pfeiffer and the great fielding of all of the girls. The team provided a well-balanced defense and offense. The cheerleading of the team members and their parents and the coaching of Michael Pfeiffer were important to the overall victory.

The Legislative Trophy is on display in Weprin’s district office in Bayside.

“I am proud of the teamwork that was displayed by the Wranglers, and I hope that the trophy will remain in my office from many years,” Weprin said.
