South Jamaica man gets 25 years for rape: DA

A South Jamaica man was sentenced last week to 25 years in prison for raping a 9-year-old girl whom he lured into his home in 1999, the Queens district attorney said.

Naqualeon Davis, 39, of 163-12 122 Ave., was convicted by a jury in November of rape in the first degree for the May 7, 1999 rape of a 9-year-old girl, District Attorney Richard Brown said.

State Supreme Court Justice Roger Rosengarten sentenced Davis to 25 years in prison Jan. 9, Brown said.

“I am pleased that this predator has been held accountable and taken off the streets of Queens County for a long time,” Brown said after the sentencing in Kew Gardens. “This sentence is just punishment for a terrible crime.”

According to the criminal charges, Davis approached the young girl while she was waiting for one of her siblings to pick her up from school, Brown said.

Davis then convinced the girl to come to his house on the pretense that he would give her a gift and that he had a daughter she could play with, although he did not have a daughter, Brown said.

The house, a yellow two-story building, is on a dead-end street one block from the intersection of Guy R. Brewer and Baisley Boulevards, near Rochdale Village in South Jamaica.

Once they got inside his home, Davis raped and sodomized the young girl, Brown said.

According to the criminal complaint filed with the DA, Davis brought the 9-year-old back to his apartment around 3 p.m. May 7, 1999, placed her on the bed in his basement apartment, put his hand over her mouth and threatened her with physical harm before assaulting her.

The girl reported the incident to police the next day and was taken to Long Island Jewish Hospital for evaluation, police said.

Davis was arrested two days later and charged with two counts of rape, two counts of sodomy, two counts of sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child, according to the criminal complaint filed with the DA.
