Speedy recovery to Lucie Shannon, Cathleen King, Robert Dunn and Frank Hess.

Condolences to Millie Loeb on the passing of her grandson.

Congratulations to Lucie Anne Shannon and Raymond Schnell on their nuptials with the exchange of vows at St. Fidelis and a reception following at the Crystal Palace.

Condolences to Loretta McCloskey and to Peter on the passing of Peter Weinner.

Through the tireless efforts and determination of Knights of Columbus insurance agents from New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, some 417 widows or surviving family members of the fallen World Trade Center rescue workers each received $3,000 checks from the Knights of Columbus. The money was from the $1 million Heroes Fund established by the Order less than 24 hours after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. The checks, which were personally delivered along with a letter of condolence from Supreme Knight Carl Anderson, were for many families the first assistance they had received despite numerous promises of aid from others.

Currently in New York, there are very sophisticated auto insurance fraud rings operating which directly impact the cost of insurance and even jeopardize the safety of innocent motorists.

Many innocent New York motorists inadvertently become a part of these schemes, often in one of two ways:

1. Being hit in an automobile accident by another driver which in fact may be no accident at all but rather an attempt to file a fraudulent claim with their own insurance company.

2. Seeking medical treatment for legitimate injuries suffered in an automobile accident from medical providers who are part of a larger scheme designed to defraud insurers for excessive or even nonexistent medical treatments.

Anonymous fraud tips can be directed to the National Insurance Crime Bureau at 1-800-835-6422.

Congratulations to the Yankees who added Steve Karsay, from College Point, to their bullpen.

Congratulations on our newly elected Mayor Bloomberg, Queens Borough President Helen Marshall and City Council Speaker Gifford Miller.
