Police Blotter: Man killed when car flips coming off Whitestone Br.

WHITESTONE — A car merging onto the Cross Island Parkway from the Whitestone bridge flipped over at 5:38 a.m. Wednesday after possibly hitting a movable concrete barrier, ending up in the surrounding woods on the northbound side, police said.

Police pronounced the driver dead on arrival. An officer on the scene said the driver was likely coming from the Bronx and was heading toward the southbound Cross Island when he hit the a concrete barrier that caused the car to flip and land upside down.

Police were investigating.

Man stabbed during attempted car hijack in Middle Village

MIDDLE VILLAGE — A man was stabbed Friday night when he tried to carjack a vehicle at Metropolitan Avenue and 80th Street.

The alleged suspect entered the 30-year-old victim’s 1994 Ford Taurus armed with a handgun, police said. A struggle ensued, police said, and the victim stabbed the suspect. No shots were fired, but police recovered a BB gun from inside the vehicle, police said. No arrests had been made.

Jackson Hgts. parents charged with keeping daughter home

JACKSON HEIGHTS — A 15-year-old Indian girl alleged that her parents held her in her house since January, police said. The girl also told police her parents removed her from school in April.

Police arrested the parents, Jit Singh , 44, and Jaswant Kaur, 38, and charged them with unlawful imprisonment and endangering the welfare of a child.

The child was taken to a local hospital and evaluated, police said. The investigation is ongoing.

DOT employee arrested after fight with motorist

FLUSHING — A city Department of Transportation employee got into a fight with another motorist after an auto accident Monday near the corner of 45th Avenue and Union Street, police said. The employee, Michael Conti of 720 Calhoun Ave. in the Bronx, was arrested on assault charges. The incident happened in the 109th Precinct, police said.

Man finds swastika in Kew Gardens Hills

KEW GARDENS HILLS — A man discovered a swastika on the wall of a building at 75-31 150 St. Friday. There were no arrests made and the investigation is ongoing, police said.

Flushing woman reported missing in 109th Precinct

Flushing — A man reported his wife missing Monday, in the 109th Precinct. The woman, who lives at 143-53 Quince Ave. in Queensboro, was last seen Monday by a neighbor, police said.

Emily Lopez, a 39-year-old Hispanic woman, was seen wearing a black dress before her disappearance and has no history of mental or physical illness, police said.

The investigation was continuing, police said.

Man found on Van Wyck dies of injuries at hospital

KEW GARDENS HILLS — An unidentified Hispanic man found unconscious early Saturday on the Van Wyck Expressway died later at Jamaica Hospital, police said.

The victim was discovered in a northbound lane of the Van Wyck near the Union Turnpike exit, police said.

Doctors told police the victim suffered a broken pelvis and road rash, and may have been struck by a vehicle and dragged.

There have been no arrests and the investigation was ongoing.

Teen arrested after Jamaica Hills stabbing

JAMAICA HILLS -— A teen-ager allegedly stabbed another youth twice in the torso during a dispute at 89-15 165 St. in Jamaica Hills last Thursday afternoon, police said.

The victim, a male, was taken to Mary Immaculate Hospital and was listed in stable condition.

Police arrested Theodore Nelson, 16, of 113-05 207 St., and charged him with assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

Woman reports being raped in South Ozone Park hotel

SOUTH OZONE PARK — A 27-year-old woman reported being raped inside the Radisson Hotel at 135-30 140 St. in South Ozone Park Saturday morning.

The victim said she met the suspect, 42-year-old Michael Brown of 115-88 Springfield Blvd., earlier in the night, police said. Brown was arrested and charged with rape and the victim was taken to a local hospital, police said

Jamaica teen charged with sodomy of 7-year-old

JAMAICA — A 15-year-old teenager was charged with sodomy on Saturday when the alleged 7-year-old victim reported the incidents to police. The victim was treated at Mary Immaculate Hospital. No address was given for the suspect, police said.

Man shot in South Ozone Park

SOUTH OZONE PARK — A 34-year-old man was shot in the chest Friday night at the corner of 140th Street and 130th Avenue, police said.

The suspect, Raymond Sadler, 36, of 142-47 Sutter Ave., was charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon, police said. The victim was taken to Jamaica Hospital in stable condition, police said.

Construction worker dies after fall in Rockaway Park

ROCKAWAY PARK — A construction worker died of injuries sustained in a fall from the second floor of a house at 122-11 Newport Ave. Thursday afternoon, police said.

The 31-year-old man suffered head trauma and was later pronounced dead at Jamaica Hospital, police said.

Man arrested after accidentally firing handgun in Sunnyside

SUNNYSIDE — A 23-year-old man accidentally fired a round of bullets from a 9mm gun he was showing off to a friend at 47-52 44th St. on Sunday, police said.

The bullets went through the floor and into the apartment below but did not hurt anyone. The suspect, Alberto Valencia, of 4307 47th Ave., was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment and criminal misdemeanor, police said.

Woman assaulted, sexually abused on Ridgewood street

RIDGEWOOD — A 23-year-old woman was sexually abused by two men while walking along 71st Avenue in Ridgewood, police in the 112 Precinct said.

The suspects forcibly removed the victim’s jewelry and then sexually abused her before leaving the scene, police said. There had been no arrests and the investigation was ongoing, police said.

Body discovered in Lindenwood after complaints of odors

LINDENWOOD — Police discovered the dead body of a 56-year-old man Monday afternoon at 87-19 Dumont Ave., while responding to neighbors’ complaints of a foul odor.

The man suffered an apparent gunshot wound to the left side of the head, police said. Officers recovered a .32 caliber revolver at the scene. The investigation was ongoing.
