Liddie was huge for Campus Magnet in a dramatic 27-20 overtime win at neighborhood rival August Martin Saturday. The senior quarterback had two touchdowns, including the game-winning run from the four-yard line. In his first year as quarterback, Liddie showed grace under pressure, connecting with Vaughn Davis twice, once for a 24-yard touchdown pass and again on fourth-and-11 in overtime.

“It was a hard game, but we weren’t going to lose. That was out of the question,” said Liddie, who defeated August Martin for the first time in his career.

Bayside quarterback Zanu Simpson played every down in his team’s 26-19 loss to Tottenville, rushing for 91 yards on eight carries with one touchdown, while going 8-for-16 passing for 108 yards … Natale Modica ran for 129 yards on 16 carries and two touchdowns in St. Francis Prep’s 24-6 win over Holy Cross … Kavelle Gordon single-handedly brought August Martin back in its game against Campus Magnet Saturday, returning the second half opening kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown as well as the game-tying 23-yard touchdown with 1:19 left in the fourth quarter… Brandon Rush broke a Springfield Gardens school record by returning an interception 101 yards to lead the Golden Eagles to a 14-6 win at George Washington … Robert Knight had 10 solo tackles for John Adams in a 22-16 win over LIC … Sebastian Garcia netted a hat trick in leading St. John’s Prep to a 7-0 win over McClancy last week.
