DG Roller Hockey: Mass Electric takes two from Pier 53 Restaurant

Minor Division

Mass Electric 11, Pier 53 Restaurant 1. Mass Electric defeated Pier 53 Restaurant in a 11-1 sweep. Strong defense led by Mass Electric's goal tender Jason Becker made it virtually impossible for Pier 53 Restaurant to score. The offense for Pier 53 was just as fierce, with goals scored by Andrew Rojas, Aaron Acosta, Joe Voit, Nelson Santiago, Ralph Schrader and Kenneth Tomlinson.

Mass Electric 7, Pier 53 Restaurant 2. In their second meeting of the week, Mass Electric defeated Pier 53 Restaurant, 7-2. Great defensive coverage by Jesse Hermanowski and Kevin Murray made Pier 53 Restaurant work extra hard for their two goals. Excellent passing and selfless play by Andrew Pagan and Emily Becker helped forwards Andrew Acosta and Joe Voit score four of the seven goals.

Flowers by Peter 17, Erins Isle 13. In a high-scoring shootout, Flowers by Peter outlasted Erins Isle, 17-13. Patrick Schule led the way for Flowers with 15 goals and Matthew Malo and Jordan Chateau each contributed a goal. Erins’ offense came off the sticks of Travis Lippert with nine goals, Nick Veljacich with three goals and Matthew Shupack with a goal.

Major Division

Mattone Group 13, Re/Max Universal 10. Mattone Group defeats the David & Nancy Legaz Re/Max Universal Team, 13-10. The Re/Max game puck went to defenseman Denis Reshetnev, who played an outstanding defensive game and started numerous breakout plays with great outlet passes. Re/Max captain Derek Lamacchia scored five times and assisted on two others. Re/Max forward David Legaz buried the biscuit twice, as forward Jeffrey Johnston contributed with a goal and two assists. Trailing 4-2 in the second period, Mattone put together a strong passing attack, as Tommy Monte scored eight goals on some beautiful feeds. Christian Kenny netted two goals and two assists. Steven McGrory, Evan Kundrat and Chris Marzano all scored a goal and an assist to round out Mattone’s offense. Joey Manginelli was spectacular in his first game in goal for Mattone. He also picked up an assist.

Project Piping 8, Re/Max Universal 7. Project Piping defeated the David & Nancy Legaz Re/Max Universal Team in an 8-7 barn-burner. Project Piping broke a 3-3 first-period tie by outscoring Re/Max 4-1 in the second. Re/Max came back in the third period only to lose by one goal. The Re/Max game puck went to captain Derek Lamacchia, who had a hat trick. Re/Max assistant captain Diana Somers scored twice and had an assist while Re/Max defenseman Sean Monsees contributed with three assists. Project Piping was led offensively by Anthony Yacavone, who scored seven goals, and also by Tam Ngo, who scored one goal, assisted by Kevin Conklin. On the defensive side, Matthew Brady and Chris Derkarsissian were the leaders, both of whom held Re/Max back for most of the game. Eric Tully had a terrific game protecting the net.

Senior Division

Rudy’s Bakery 13, Transcreen 4. In the season opener, Rudy’s Bakery cooked Transcreen, 13-4. Rudy’s offense was led by Jimmy Brady with six goals, Matt Novak and Joey Mare tallied hat tricks and Anthony Binanti added a goal. Ben Lee, Matt Twomey and Anthony Binanti played strong defensive games. Chris Rodriguez was hot between the pipes. For Transcreen, Sal Pinto scored twice with Steven Licul and Paul Semenkowitz contributing a goal apiece.
