In one of the biggest games in recent history for the St. Francis Prep boys’ soccer team, Pavlakos stepped up and scored the game-winner to lead the Terriers past perennial powerhouse Monsignor Farrell in the CHSAA ‘A’ quarterfinals Sunday at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point.

Pavlakos, who was spent much of the season playing defense, moved to midfield for the first time this year against Farrell. Just eight minutes into the game, Pavlakos alertly pounced on a rebound and deposited it into the net from 10 yards out for the Terriers, who advanced to the semifinals to face Regis in a game played Wednesday night at USMMA.

“All the time, in games and practice, we talk about following our shots,” Pavlakos said. “The goalie bobbled it and I scored.”
