The death of a veteran police officer and Bayside resident last Thursday was still a mystery this week, a spokeswoman for the city medical examiner’s office said.
Police Officer Elizabeth Heubish, 39, of Bayside, was found dead in her home last week, police said. Her family said funeral services were held Monday.
Heubish was a veteran of the department and had been assigned to the Movie/T.V. Unit, police said.
Police said Heubish was out sick with the flu at the time of her death and under the care of her family physician.
A spokeswoman for the medical examiner said the exact cause of Heubish’s death was unknown late Tuesday afternoon.
“It’s still pending,” the spokeswoman said. “I don’t know what her illness was at this point.”
