Beechurst’s Sullivan take first in age group at Snowflake run

Keith Sullivan, of Beechurst, became the first runner from his 50-59 age group to cross the finish line in the “Snowflake” 4-mile run in Long Island Beach.

The 50-year old member of the College Point Road Runners Track Club ran at a 6:18 pace and crossed the finish line in 25:12. Overall, he wound up 17th in a field of 610 finishers.

“We ran on a beautiful day and I had 8 great race,” Sullivan said. “Being from Queens, it’s nice to come out and run in different places.”

Actually the past president of the CPRRTC is training for the Brooklyn Half-Marathon to take place in mid-March and for the Boston Marathon to be held in mid-April, and maybe for the New York City Marathon.

His best time for the Boston Marathon is three hours when he was 40, Overall he has competed in the event eight times.

“My time goal in Boston la 3:30 or a little faster depending on my training,” said Sullivan, who is putting in about 50 miles a week training.
